21 Da sa han til meg: ‘Gå! For jeg sender deg langt bort til hedningene.’

22 De lyttet til ham inntil dette punktet, og så hevet de sine stemmer og sa: «Bort med en slik mann fra jorden, for han burde ikke få lov til å leve!»

Mens de ropte og kastet av seg kappene og kastet støv opp i luften,

24 beordret kommandanten at han skulle bringes inn i kasernen, og sa at han skulle avhøres ved pisking for å finne ut hvorfor de ropte mot ham på den måten.

25 Men da de strakte ham ut med remmer, sa Paulus til centurionen som sto ved: «Er det lovlig for dere å piske en romersk borger som ikke er dømt?»
