27 Da de syv dagene nesten var fullført, så jødene fra Asia ham i tempelet og hisset opp folkemengden, la hendene på ham,
28 og ropte: "Israels menn, hjelp! Dette er mannen som lærer alle overalt mot vårt folk, loven, og dette stedet. Dessuten har han brakt grekere inn i tempelet og vanhelliget dette hellige stedet."
(De hadde tidligere sett Trophimus fra Efesos med ham i byen og antok at Paulus hadde tatt ham med inn i tempelet.)
30 Hele byen ble opprørt, og folket strømmet sammen. De grep Paulus og dro ham ut av tempelet, og straks ble portene stengt.
31 Mens de forsøkte å drepe ham, nådde ordet kommandanten for den romerske kohorten at hele Jerusalem var i forvirring.
