5. Mosebok 19,2

1 Når Herren din Gud har utryddet de folkene hvis land Han gir deg, og du har fordrevet dem og bosatt deg i deres byer og hus,

skal du utpeke tre byer for deg selv midt i landet som Herren din Gud gir deg til eie.

3 Forbered veiene og del landet ditt i tre deler, som Herren din Gud gir deg som arv, slik at enhver som dreper en person utilsiktet kan flykte dit.

4 Dette er tilfelle for den som dreper en annen utilsiktet, uten forutgående ondskap: når han dreper sin nabo uten hensikt.
