11 Mine sønner, vær ikke likegyldige nå, for Herren har valgt dere til å stå foran Ham, til å tjene Ham, og til å være Hans tjenere og ofre røkelse.»

12 Da reiste levittene seg: Mahat, sønn av Amasai, og Joel, sønn av Asarja,
fra sønnene til Kahatitene;
og fra sønnene til Merari, Kisj, sønn av Abdi, og Asarja, sønn av Jehallelel;
og fra Gersjonittene, Joah, sønn av Simma, og Eden, sønn av Joah;

Fra etterkommerne av Elisafan var Sjimri og Je'iel;
fra etterkommerne av Asaf var Sakarja og Mattanja;

14 Fra etterkommerne av Heman var Jehiel og Sjimi;
fra etterkommerne av Jedutun var Sjemaja og Ussiel.

15 De samlet sine brødre, innviet seg, og gikk inn for å rense Herrens hus, i henhold til kongens befaling ved Herrens ord.
