3 Salomo dro sammen med hele forsamlingen til offerhaugen i Gibeon,
fordi Guds møtetelt var der, som Moses, Herrens tjener, hadde laget i ørkenen.

4 David hadde imidlertid brakt Guds ark opp fra Kirjat-Jearim
til det stedet han hadde forberedt for den,
for han hadde satt opp et telt for den i Jerusalem.

Nå var kobberalteret som Besalel, sønn av Uri, sønn av Hur, hadde laget,
der foran Herrens tabernakel,
og Salomo og forsamlingen søkte det ut.

6 Salomo nærmet seg kobberalteret for Herrens åsyn, som var ved møteteltet,
og ofret tusen brennoffer på det.

7 Om natten viste Gud seg for Salomo og sa,
“Be om hva jeg skal gi deg.”
