16 De som gikk inn, hann og hunn av alle levende ting, gikk inn slik Gud hadde befalt ham; og Herren lukket ham inne.

17 I førti dager kom flommen over jorden, og etter hvert som vannet steg, løftet de arken høyt over jorden.

Vannet steg og økte kraftig over jorden, og arken fløt på vannets overflate.

19 Vannet hersket kraftig over jorden, og alle de høye fjellene under hele himmelen ble dekket.

20 Vannet steg og dekket fjellene til en dybde på mer enn femten alen.
