16 Abraham var enig med Efron og veide opp for ham sølvet han hadde nevnt i hetittenes nærvær: fire hundre sekel sølv, etter vekten som var gjeldende blant kjøpmenn.

17 Slik ble Efrons mark i Makpela nær Mamre—marken med hulen i, og alle trærne innenfor markens grenser—overdratt

til Abraham som hans eiendom i nærvær av hetittene, for alle som kom inn gjennom byporten hans.

19 Etter dette begravde Abraham Sara, sin kone, i hulen på Makpela-marken nær Mamre (som er Hebron) i Kanaans land.

20 Slik ble marken og hulen i den overdratt til Abraham av hetittene som en gravplass.
