17 Alle disse ble registrert i slektsregistrene i dagene til Jotam, kongen av Juda,
og i dagene til Jeroboam, kongen av Israel.

18 Etterkommerne til Ruben, gadittene og halvparten av Manasses stamme—
bestående av tapre menn, menn som bar skjold og sverd,
og spente buen, og var trent for kamp—
utgjorde 44 760, som gikk ut for militærtjeneste.

De gikk til kamp mot hagrittene,
Jetur, Nafisj og Nodab.

20 De fikk hjelp mot dem,
og hagrittene og alle som var med dem ble overgitt i deres hender;
fordi de ropte til Gud i kampen,
og Han svarte deres bønner, fordi de stolte på Ham.

21 De tok deres buskap:
femti tusen kameler,
to hundre og femti tusen sauer,
to tusen esler,
og hundre tusen mennesker.
