30 akkurat som jeg sverget til deg ved Herren, Israels Gud, og sa, ‘Salomo, din sønn, skal være konge etter meg, og han skal sitte på min trone i mitt sted,’ vil jeg virkelig gjøre det i dag.”

31 Da bøyde Batseba seg med ansiktet mot jorden, og kastet seg ned for kongen og sa, “Må min herre kong David ha et varig liv.”

Så sa kong David, “Kall til meg Sadok, presten, Natan, profeten, og Benaja, sønn av Jojada.” Så de kom inn for kongen.

33 Og kongen instruerte dem, “Ta med dere min herres tjenere, og la min sønn Salomo ri på min egen muldyr, og bring ham ned til Gihon.

34 Og la Sadok, presten, og Natan, profeten, salve ham der som konge over Israel, og blås i trompeten og si, ‘Leve kong Salomo!’
