19 For Herren førte Juda lavt på grunn av Akas, Israels konge, for han hadde forårsaket uorden i Juda, og var svært utro mot Herren.
20 Så kom Tiglat-Pileser, kongen av Assyria, mot ham og undertrykte ham i stedet for å støtte ham.
Selv om Akas tok en del fra Herrens hus, fra kongens hus og høvdingene, og ga det til kongen av Assyria, hjalp det ham ikke.
22 Nå i hans nød ble denne samme kong Akas enda mer utro mot Herren.
23 For han ofret til gudene i Damaskus som hadde beseiret ham, og sa: "Fordi Arams kongers guder hjalp dem, vil jeg ofre til dem så de vil hjelpe meg." Men de ble hans og hele Israels fall.
