46 Josef var tretti år gammel da han begynte å tjene farao, kongen av Egypt. Og Josef gikk ut fra faraos nærvær og reiste gjennom hele Egypt.
47 Gjennom de sju årene med overflod ga landet rikelig.
Josef samlet all maten som ble produsert i de sju årene med overflod i Egypt og lagret den i byene. I hver by plasserte han maten som ble dyrket på markene rundt den.
49 Josef lagret opp enorme mengder korn, som sanden ved havet; det var så mye at han sluttet å måle det fordi det var uten mål.
