Who was Jesus?
Goal: The young people meet Jesus in the Gospels and discuss who he is.
Texts: Markus 4,35–41 · Johannes 11,17–44 · Lukas 15,11–32
Plan (60 min)
- 10 minWhat have we heard?. What do people say about Jesus? Write it all down, including disagreement.
- 20 minThree encounters. Read one of the encounters in groups: the storm, Lazarus, the lost son. What does Jesus do, and what does it do to people? Open
- 10 minNames and titles. What names does Jesus get in the Gospels? Find three. What do they mean? Open
- 15 minConversation. What would you ask Jesus? What do you think he would answer?
- 5 minClosing. Silence and a shared prayer, if the group wishes.
Questions for conversation
- What about Jesus surprises you?
- What does it mean to follow him today?
Homework
- Homework: read Mark 1 and list what Jesus does.
The sessions are drafts written by us, made to be used and changed. Adapt them to the group, and choose texts from the church or tradition you belong to.
