31 “Simon, Simon, se, Satan har bedt om å få sikte dere alle som hvete.

32 Men jeg har bedt for deg, Simon, at din tro ikke skal svikte. Og når du har vendt tilbake, styrk dine brødre.”

Men han svarte, “Herre, jeg er klar til å følge deg både i fengsel og i døden.”

34 Jesus svarte, “Jeg sier deg, Peter, før hanen galer i dag, vil du nekte tre ganger at du kjenner meg.”

35 Så spurte Jesus dem, “Da jeg sendte dere uten pung, veske eller sandaler, manglet dere noe?” De svarte, “Ingenting.”
