36 Også Elisabet, din slektning, skal få en sønn i sin alderdom, og hun som ble sagt å være ufruktbar, er nå i sin sjette måned.

37 For ingenting er umulig for Gud.”

Maria sa, “Jeg er Herrens tjenerinne. Må det skje meg etter ditt ord.” Så forlot engelen henne.

39 På den tiden brøt Maria opp og skyndte seg til en by i fjellene i Judea,

40 hvor hun gikk inn i Sakarjas hus og hilste på Elisabet.
