¹⁰ "Har du ikke satt en hekk rundt ham og hans husstand og alt han eier? Du har velsignet hans henders verk, og hans buskap har spredt seg over hele landet.

¹¹ Men rekk ut din hånd nå og rør ved alt han har, og han vil sikkert forbanne deg rett opp i ansiktet."

Herren sa til Satan: "Vel, alt han har er i din makt, men legg ikke hånd på mannen selv." Så Satan dro bort fra Herrens nærvær.

¹³ En dag, mens Jobs sønner og døtre spiste og drakk vin i deres eldste brors hus,
