28 For han har sendt denne meldingen til oss i Babylon: “Eksilet vil bli langt; bygg hus og bo i dem, og plant hager og spis deres frukt.”’”
29 Sefanja, presten, leste imidlertid dette brevet for profeten Jeremia.

31 “Send denne meldingen til alle de bortførte: ‘Dette er hva Herren sier om Sjemaja, Nehelamitten: “Fordi Sjemaja har profetert for dere, selv om jeg ikke sendte ham, og har fått dere til å stole på løgner,”
32 derfor er dette hva Herren sier: “Se, jeg vil straffe Sjemaja, Nehelamitten, og hans etterkommere; han skal ikke ha noen igjen blant dette folket, og han skal ikke se det gode jeg vil gjøre for mitt folk,” erklærer Herren, “fordi han har forkynt opprør mot meg.”’”
