20 Og resten av behovene for din Guds hus, som du måtte ha behov for å sørge for, kan du forsyne fra det kongelige skattkammeret.

21 "Jeg, kong Artaxerxes, utsteder et dekret til alle skattmestere i provinsene bortenfor Eufratelven, at hva enn Esra, presten, skriveren av himmelens Guds lov, krever av dere, skal gjøres flittig,

opptil hundre talenter sølv, hundre kor hvete, hundre bat vin, hundre bat olivenolje, og salt uten mål.

23 Hva enn som er befalt av himmelens Gud må gjøres med iver for himmelens Guds hus, så det ikke blir vrede mot kongens rike og hans sønner.

24 Vi informerer dere også om at det ikke er tillatt å pålegge skatt, tributt eller avgift på noen av prestene, levittene, sangerne, portvokterne, tempeltjenerne eller andre arbeidere i dette Guds hus.
