1 Kong Dareios utstedte en befaling, og det ble gjort et søk i arkivene der skattene ble oppbevart i Babylon.

I borgen i Ekbatana i provinsen Media ble en bokrull funnet, og følgende var skrevet: Memorandum—

3 I det første året av kong Kyros ble det utstedt en befaling angående Guds hus i Jerusalem: La tempelet bli gjenoppbygd som et sted for å ofre, og la dets grunnvoller bli lagt, med en høyde på seksti alen og en bredde på seksti alen,
