27 Tekel: Du er veid på vekten og funnet for lett.

28 Peres: Ditt rike er delt og gitt til mederne og perserne.

Etter Belsasars befaling ble Daniel kledd i purpur, en gullkjede ble lagt om hans hals, og han ble erklært den tredje høyeste herskeren i riket.

30 Samme natt ble Belsasar, kaldeerkongen, drept.

31 Og Dareios, mederen, overtok riket, da han var sekstito år gammel.
