Daniel 2,38

36 Dette var drømmen, og nå vil vi forklare den for kongen.

37 Deres Majestet, du er kongenes konge. Himmelens Gud har gitt deg herredømme, makt, styrke og ære;

Han har plassert alle folk, markens dyr og himmelens fugler under din myndighet. Hvor de enn bor, har Han gjort deg til hersker over dem alle. Du er det hodet av gull.

39 Etter deg vil et annet rike oppstå, underlegent ditt. Deretter vil et tredje rike, et av bronse, herske over hele jorden.

40 Til slutt vil det være et fjerde rike, sterkt som jern—for jern bryter og knuser alt—og som jern knuser alle ting, så vil det knuse og bryte alle de andre.
