28 De loddet dybden og fant at vannet var tjue favner dypt. En kort stund senere loddet de igjen og fant at det var femten favner dypt.

29 I frykt for at vi skulle gå på grunn på klippene, kastet de fire ankre fra akterenden og ba om dagslys.

Sjøfolkene forsøkte å flykte fra skipet og hadde senket skipets båt i sjøen, mens de lot som de skulle legge ut ankre fra baugen.

31 Da sa Paulus til centurionen og soldatene: "Hvis ikke disse mennene blir på skipet, kan dere ikke bli reddet."

32 Så soldatene kuttet tauene som holdt skipets båt og lot den drive av sted.
