8 Hvis det oppstår en sak som er for vanskelig for deg å dømme—enten det er blodskyld, søksmål eller overfall—innenfor dine porter, da må du gå opp til det stedet Herren din Gud vil velge.
9 Gå til de levittiske prestene og til dommeren som er i embetet på den tiden. Spør dem, og de vil erklære for deg den juridiske avgjørelsen.
Du må handle i henhold til avgjørelsen de gir deg på det stedet Herren velger. Vær nøye med å gjøre alt de instruerer deg.
11 Følg loven de lærer deg og avgjørelsen de uttaler. Vend deg ikke bort fra det de forteller deg, verken til høyre eller til venstre.
12 Enhver som arrogant nekter å lytte til presten som står for å tjene for Herren din Gud, eller til dommeren, må dø. Du må rense ut det onde fra Israel.
This was said to Israel at a particular time, so it is wise to read it together with the surrounding text. Do read the surrounding verses too, because the context often says more than a single verse.
