17 Herren talte til Moses og Aron og sa:
18 "Sørg for at Kehatittenes stammegrener ikke blir avskåret fra levittene.
For å sikre at de lever og ikke dør når de nærmer seg de helligste tingene, gjør dette for dem: Aron og hans sønner skal gå inn og tildele hver mann hans arbeid og hva han skal bære.
20 Men Kehatittene må ikke nærme seg og se på de hellige tingene, selv ikke kort, for at de ikke skal omkomme."
21 Herren talte til Moses og sa:
This was said to Israel at a particular time, so it is wise to read it together with the surrounding text. Do read the surrounding verses too, because the context often says more than a single verse.

Etter at Aron og hans sønner har fullført å dekke de hellige gjenstandene og alle møblene i helligdommen, når leiren er klar til å flytte, skal Kehatittene komme for å bære dem, men de må ikke røre de hellige tingene, ellers vil de dø. Dette er gjenstandene i sammenkomstens telt som Kehatittene skal bære.
