43 Og alle førstefødte menn, etter antall navn fra en måned gammel og oppover, var 22 273.

44 Herren talte så til Moses og sa:

"Ta levittene i stedet for alle førstefødte blant Israels sønner, og levittenes kveg i stedet for deres kveg. Og levittene skal være Mine; Jeg er Herren.

46 Og som en løsepenge for de 273 av de førstefødte av Israels sønner som overstiger antallet av levittene,

47 skal du samle fem sjekel for hver enkelt; du skal ta dem i henhold til helligdommens sjekel (sjekelen er tjue gera),
