40 Så instruerte Herren Moses: "Tell hver førstefødt mannlig av Israels sønner fra en måned gammel og oppover, og lag en liste over deres navn.
41 Og du skal ta levittene for Meg—Jeg er Herren—i bytte for alle førstefødte blant Israels sønner; og levittenes kveg i stedet for alle førstefødte blant kveget til Israels sønner."
Så Moses talte alle førstefødte blant Israels sønner, akkurat som Herren hadde instruert ham.
43 Og alle førstefødte menn, etter antall navn fra en måned gammel og oppover, var 22 273.
