14 Moabs tjenestemenn vendte tilbake til Balak og rapporterte: «Bileam nektet å komme med oss.»
15 Balak sendte andre tjenestemenn, flere og mer ansette enn de første.
De kom til Bileam og sa: «Dette sier Balak, Sippors sønn: La ingenting hindre deg i å komme til meg,
17 for jeg vil belønne deg rikelig og gjøre hva du enn ber om. Kom nå og forbann dette folket for meg.»
18 Bileam svarte dem: «Selv om Balak ga meg sitt palass fylt med sølv og gull, kunne jeg ikke gjøre noe stort eller lite utover det Herren min Gud befaler.
