Israel

22 Fra nå av må ikke israelittene nærme seg møteteltet, ellers vil de bære konsekvensene av sin synd og dø.

23 Bare levittene skal utføre tjenesten ved møteteltet og bære sin egen skyld. Dette er en varig forskrift for de kommende generasjoner. De vil ikke ha noen arv blant israelittene.

I stedet gir jeg til levittene som deres arv tiendene som israelittene gir som en offergave til Herren. Det er derfor jeg har sagt om dem: 'De skal ikke ha noen arv blant israelittene.'"

25 Herren talte så til Moses og sa,

26 "Si til levittene: 'Når dere mottar fra israelittene tienden jeg gir dere som deres arv, må dere gi en tiendedel av den tienden som et bidrag til Herren.
