2 Det var en tjener fra Sauls hus ved navn Siba, som ble ført fram for David. Kongen spurte ham, "Er du Siba?" Og han svarte, "Jeg er din tjener."

3 Da sa kongen, "Er det ingen igjen av Sauls hus som jeg kan vise Guds godhet?" Og Siba sa til kongen, "Det er ennå en sønn av Jonatan, som er lam i begge føttene."

Kongen spurte, "Hvor er han?" Og Siba svarte kongen, "Han er i huset til Makir, Ammiels sønn, i Lo-debar."

5 Så sendte kong David bud og hentet ham fra huset til Makir, Ammiels sønn, fra Lo-debar.

6 Mefibosjet, Jonatans sønn og Sauls barnebarn, kom til David og bøyde seg ned, kastet seg ned. Og David sa, "Mefibosjet!" Og han svarte, "Her er din tjener!"
