1 I det trettisjette året av Asas regjering kom Baesa, Israels konge, opp mot Juda og befestet Rama for å hindre noen i å gå ut eller komme inn til Asa, Judas konge.

Asa tok sølv og gull fra skattkamrene i Herrens hus og kongens hus, og sendte dem til Ben-Hadad, kongen av Aram, som bodde i Damaskus, med denne meldingen,

3 "Det er en pakt mellom deg og meg, slik som mellom min far og din far. Se, jeg har sendt deg sølv og gull; gå, bryt din pakt med Baesa, Israels konge, så han vil trekke seg tilbake fra meg."

4 Så Ben-Hadad lyttet til kong Asa og sendte hærførerne sine mot Israels byer, og de slo Ijon, Dan, Abel-Maim og alle lagerbyene i Naftali.
