11 Han styrket også festningene, utnevnte offiserer og forsynte dem med mat, olje og vin.
12 Han utstyrte hver by med skjold og spyd, og styrket dem betydelig. Dermed opprettholdt han kontrollen over Juda og Benjamin.
Dessuten sto prestene og levittene som var i hele Israel med ham fra alle sine territorier.
14 For levittene forlot sine beitemarker og sine eiendommer og kom til Juda og Jerusalem, fordi Jeroboam og hans sønner hadde utelukket dem fra å tjene som prester for Herren.
15 Han utnevnte for seg selv prester for offerhaugene, for bukkedemonene og for kalvene som han hadde laget.
