Beth-shemesh

13 Nå var folket i Bet-Semes i ferd med å høste hvete i dalen. Da de så opp og så arken, gledet de seg over synet.

14 Vognen kom til Josvas mark i Bet-Semes og stanset ved en stor stein. Folket hogde opp treverket fra vognen og ofret kyrne som et brennoffer til Herren.

Levittene tok ned Herrens ark og kassen ved siden av som inneholdt gjenstandene av gull, og de plasserte dem på den store steinen. Den dagen ofret folket i Bet-Semes brennoffer og gjorde ofre til Herren.

16 Da de fem herskerne av filisterne så dette, vendte de tilbake til Ekron samme dag.

17 Dette er gullbyllene som filisterne sendte som et skyldoffer til Herren—en for Asdod, Gaza, Asjkalon, Gat og Ekron.
