4 Så folket sendte menn til Sjilo, og de hentet tilbake Herrens hærskarenes paktsark, som troner mellom kjerubene. Og Elis to sønner, Hofni og Pinehas, var der med Guds paktsark.

5 Da Herrens paktsark kom inn i leiren, hevet hele Israel et så stort rop at jorden ristet.

Filisterne hørte lyden av ropet og spurte: “Hva er dette høye ropet i hebreernes leir?” Da de fikk vite at Herrens ark var kommet inn i leiren,

7 ble filisterne redde. “En gud har kommet inn i deres leir,” sa de. “Ve oss! Noe slikt har aldri skjedd før.

8 Ve oss! Hvem kan redde oss fra hendene til disse mektige gudene? Dette er gudene som slo egypterne med alle slags plager i ørkenen.
