15 Da reiste Samuel seg og dro opp fra Gilgal til Gibea i Benjamin. Og Saul talte opp folket som var med ham, omkring seks hundre menn.
16 Nå var Saul og hans sønn Jonatan og folket som var med dem i Gibea i Benjamin, mens filistrene slo leir i Mikmas.
Og røvere kom ut fra filistrenes leir i tre flokker: en flokk vendte seg mot Ofra, til landet Sual;
18 en annen flokk vendte seg mot Bet-horon; og en annen flokk vendte seg mot grensen som vender mot Seboim-dalen, mot ødemarken.
19 På den tiden kunne ingen smed finnes i hele Israels land, for filistrene hadde sagt: "Ellers kan hebreerne lage seg sverd eller spyd."
