1. Mosebok 4,1

Adam var intim med sin kone Eva, og hun ble gravid og fødte Kain. Hun sa: "Med Herrens hjelp har jeg fått en mann."

2 Senere fødte hun Kains bror Abel. Abel var en gjeter, mens Kain var en jordbruker.

3 Etter en tid brakte Kain noen av markens avlinger som et offer til Herren.
