Fear

1 Filisterne gikk til kamp mot Israel, og Israels menn flyktet fra filisterne og ble drept på Gilboafjellet.

2 Filisterne forfulgte Saul og sønnene hans med besluttsomhet, og de slo ned Jonatan, Abinadab og Malkisjua, Sauls sønner.

Kampen ble hard mot Saul,
og bueskytterne fant ham;
og han ble såret av bueskytterne.

4 Da sa Saul til våpenbæreren sin,
«Trekk sverdet ditt og gjennombor meg med det,
ellers vil disse uomskårne komme og mishandle meg.»
Men våpenbæreren hans ville ikke, for han var svært redd.
Så tok Saul sverdet sitt og kastet seg på det.

5 Da våpenbæreren hans så at Saul var død,
kastet også han seg på sverdet sitt og døde.
