15 Og han sa, "Du vet at kongedømmet var mitt, og at hele Israel forventet at jeg skulle regjere. Men kongedømmet har vendt seg og blitt min brors, for det var hans fra Herren.

16 Nå ber jeg deg om én bønn; avvis meg ikke." Og hun sa til ham: "Tal."

Da sa han, "Vær så snill å tale til kong Salomo—han vil ikke avvise deg— at han må gi meg Abisjag fra Sjunem til kone."

18 Så sa Batseba: "Godt; jeg skal tale til kongen for deg."

19 Så gikk Batseba til kong Salomo for å tale til ham for Adonja. Og kongen reiste seg for å møte henne og bøyde seg for henne, og satte seg på sin trone og fikk satt en trone for kongens mor, og hun satt ved hans høyre hånd.
