17 Hun sa til ham, “Min herre, du sverget ved Herren din Gud til din tjenestekvinne, ‘Sannelig, Salomo, din sønn, skal være konge etter meg, og han skal sitte på min trone.’

18 Men nå, se, Adonja har blitt konge, og du, min herre kongen, vet det ikke.

Og han har ofret okser og gjøddfe og sauer i overflod, og har invitert alle kongens sønner, og Abjatar, presten, og Joab, hærføreren, men han har ikke invitert Salomo, din tjener.

20 Og du, min herre kongen, alle Israels øyne er på deg, for å fortelle dem hvem som skal sitte på tronen til min herre kongen etter ham.

21 Ellers vil det skje, når min herre kongen legger seg med sine fedre, at jeg og min sønn Salomo vil bli ansett som forbrytere.”
