2 Så ble tildelingen gjort for resten av Manasses stamme, i henhold til deres klaner—for etterkommerne av Abieser, Helek, Asriel, Sikem, Hefer og Sjemida. Dette var de mannlige etterkommerne av Manasse, sønn av Josef, etter deres klaner.

3 Nå hadde Selofhad, sønn av Hefer, sønn av Gilead, sønn av Makir, sønn av Manasse, ingen sønner, men bare døtre. Deres navn var Mahla, Noa, Hogla, Milka og Tirsa.

De henvendte seg til Eleasar, presten, Josva, sønn av Nun, og lederne, og sa: "Herren befalte Moses å gi oss en arv blant våre slektninger." Så Josva ga dem en arv blant farens onkler, i samsvar med Herrens befaling.

5 Manasses andel besto av ti deler i tillegg til Gilead og Basan, som lå øst for Jordan,

6 fordi døtrene til Manasses stamme mottok en arv sammen med sønnene. Landet Gilead tilhørte resten av etterkommerne av Manasse.
