Abimelek

42 Neste dag gikk folket ut til markene, og dette ble rapportert til Abimelek.

43 Så tok han sine menn, delte dem i tre grupper, og satte et bakhold i markene. Da han så folket komme ut av byen, angrep han dem.

Abimelek og gruppen med ham skyndte seg frem til en posisjon ved inngangen til byporten. Da angrep de to andre gruppene dem som var i markene og slo dem ned.

45 Abimelek kjempet mot byen hele den dagen, inntok den, og drepte folket der. Så ødela han byen og strødde salt over den.

46 Da alle lederne i tårnet i Sikem hørte om det, gikk de inn i det indre kammeret i tempelet til El-Berit.
