16 Da kom Husjai, arkitten, Davids venn, til Absalom og sa til ham, "Leve kongen! Leve kongen!"
17 Men Absalom sa til Husjai, "Er dette hvordan du viser lojalitet til din venn? Hvorfor gikk du ikke med din venn?"
Da sa Husjai til Absalom, "Nei! For den som Herren, dette folket, og alle Israels menn velger, hans vil jeg være, og med ham vil jeg bli.
19 Dessuten, hvem skal jeg tjene? Skal det ikke være hans sønn? Som jeg har tjent din far, så vil jeg tjene deg."
20 Da sa Absalom til Akitofel, "Gi oss råd. Hva skal vi gjøre?"
