3 Han bygde den øvre porten til Herrens hus, og han forsterket betydelig muren i Ofel.
4 Dessuten bygde han byer i fjellandet i Juda, og han bygde festninger og tårn i de skogkledde områdene.
Han kjempet med ammonittenes konge og seiret over dem. Og ammonittene ga ham i løpet av det året hundre talenter sølv, ti tusen kor hvete, og ti tusen bygg. Ammonittene betalte ham også dette beløpet i det andre og tredje året.
