21 Så sendte Jehu ord over hele Israel, og alle Ba’als tilbedere kom, slik at det ikke var noen igjen som ikke kom. Da de gikk inn i Ba’als hus, var Ba’als hus fylt fra den ene enden til den andre.
22 Og han sa til den som hadde ansvaret for garderoben, “Bring ut klær for alle Ba’als tilbedere.” Så han brakte ut klær for dem.
Så gikk Jehu og Jonadab, sønn av Rekab, inn i Ba’als hus, og han sa til Ba’als tilbedere, “Søk nøye og se at det ikke er her med dere noen av Herrens tjenere, men bare Ba’als tilbedere.”
24 Så gikk de inn for å ofre ofre og brennoffer. Nå hadde Jehu stasjonert åtti menn utenfor, og han sa, “Den som lar noen av mennene unnslippe som jeg bringer i deres hender, skal gi sitt liv i bytte.”
25 Så skjedde det, så snart han hadde fullført å ofre brennofferet, at Jehu sa til vaktene og offiserene, “Gå inn, drep dem; la ingen komme ut.” Så slo de dem med sverdets egg, og vaktene og offiserene kastet dem ut, og gikk inn i det innerste rommet i Ba’als hus.
