20 Hyrdene vendte tilbake, og de priste og lovet Gud for alt de hadde hørt og sett, slik som det var blitt sagt dem.
21 Da åtte dager var gått og han skulle omskjæres, fikk han navnet Jesus, det som engelen hadde gitt ham før han ble unnfanget.
Da deres renselsesdager etter Moseloven var til ende, tok de ham med opp til Jerusalem for å fremstille ham for Herren,
23 (som det står skrevet i Herrens lov: "Hver førstefødt gutt skal vies Herren"),
24 og for å bære frem det offer som er foreskrevet i Herrens lov: "et par turtelduer eller to dueunger."
