13 Gideon, sønn av Joasj, vendte så tilbake fra slaget ved Heres-stigningen.
14 Han fanget en ung mann fra Sukkot og forhørte ham, og den unge mannen skrev ned for ham navnene på de syttisju lederne og eldste i Sukkot.
Så kom Gideon til mennene i Sukkot og sa: «Her er Sebah og Salmunna, om hvem dere hånte meg og sa: ‘Har du allerede Sebah og Salmunna i dine hender, at vi skulle gi brød til dine trette menn?’»
16 Han tok byens eldste og disiplinerte mennene i Sukkot med ørkentorner og tistler.
17 Han rev også ned tårnet i Pnuel og behandlet mennene i byen.
