20 Men Sihon stolte ikke på Israel for å passere gjennom sitt territorium. Han samlet alle sine tropper, slo leir ved Jahas, og kjempet mot Israel.
21 Herren, Israels Gud, overgav Sihon og hele hans folk i Israels hender, og de beseiret dem. Israel tok i besittelse hele landet til amorittene som bodde i den regionen.
De erobret hele området fra Arnon til Jabbok og fra ørkenen til Jordan.
23 Nå som Herren, Israels Gud, har drevet amorittene ut foran sitt folk Israel, skulle dere da ta det i besittelse?
24 Eier ikke dere det som Kamosj, deres gud, gir dere? På samme måte vil vi eie det som Herren vår Gud har gitt oss.
