54 Da han kom til sin hjemby, begynte han å undervise folket i synagogen deres, og de ble forundret og sa: «Hvor har denne mannen fått denne visdommen og disse mirakuløse kreftene fra?»
55 «Er ikke dette tømmermannens sønn? Heter ikke hans mor Maria, og hans brødre Jakob, Josef, Simon og Judas?
Og er ikke alle hans søstre blant oss? Så hvor har denne mannen fått alt dette fra?»
57 Og de tok anstøt av ham. Men Jesus sa til dem: «En profet er ikke uten ære, unntatt i sin hjemby og i sitt eget hus.»
58 Og han gjorde ikke mange mirakler der på grunn av deres vantro.
