27 Tempelet var fullt av menn og kvinner, og alle lederne av filisterne var der. På taket var det omtrent tre tusen menn og kvinner som så på Samson opptre.
28 Da ba Samson til Herren, "Suverene Herre, husk meg. Vær så snill, Gud, styrk meg bare en gang til, så jeg med ett slag kan hevne meg på filisterne for mine to øyne."
Samson rakte etter de to sentrale søylene som tempelet sto på, og støttet seg mot dem, med høyre hånd på den ene og venstre hånd på den andre.
30 Samson sa, "La meg dø med filisterne!" Han presset med all sin kraft, og tempelet kollapset over lederne og alle menneskene i det. Dermed drepte han flere i sin død enn han hadde gjort i løpet av sitt liv.
31 Da kom hans brødre og hele hans fars familie ned for å hente ham. De tok ham og begravde ham mellom Sora og Esjtaol i graven til Manoah, hans far. Han hadde dømt Israel i tjue år.
