5 For du skal bli med barn og føde en sønn. Ingen barberkniv skal komme på hans hode, for gutten skal være en nasireer, viet til Gud fra mors liv. Han skal begynne å frelse Israel fra filisterne."
6 Kvinnen gikk til sin mann og sa: "En Guds mann kom til meg; hans utseende var som en Guds engel, meget fryktinngytende. Jeg spurte ikke hvor han kom fra, og han fortalte meg ikke sitt navn.
Han sa til meg: 'Du skal bli med barn og føde en sønn. Nå, ikke drikk vin eller sterk drikk, og ikke spis noe urent, for gutten skal være en nasireer for Gud fra mors liv til den dag han dør.'"
8 Manoah ba til Herren: "Vær så snill, Herre, la Guds mann du sendte komme igjen for å lære oss hvordan vi skal oppdra gutten som skal bli født."
9 Gud hørte Manoah, og Guds engel kom igjen til kvinnen mens hun var på marken, men hennes mann Manoah var ikke med henne.
