5. Mosebok 1,22

20 Og jeg sa til dere: 'Dere har nådd amorittenes fjelland, som Herren vår Gud gir oss.

21 Se, Herren deres Gud har lagt landet foran dere; gå opp og ta det i eie, slik som Herren, deres fedres Gud, har talt til dere. Vær ikke redde eller motløse.'

"Da kom dere alle til meg og sa: 'La oss sende menn foran oss for å utforske landet og bringe tilbake en rapport om veien vi skal ta og byene vi vil komme til.'

23 Planen virket god for meg, så jeg valgte ut tolv av dere, en mann for hver stamme.

24 De dro opp og gikk inn i fjellandet, og kom til Eshkoldalen og utforsket den.
