18 På den tiden befalte jeg dere alle de tingene dere skulle gjøre.
19 "Så dro vi fra Horeb og gikk gjennom hele den store og fryktinngytende ørkenen som dere så, på vei til amorittenes fjelland, slik Herren vår Gud hadde befalt oss, og vi nådde Kadesj-Barnea.
Og jeg sa til dere: 'Dere har nådd amorittenes fjelland, som Herren vår Gud gir oss.
21 Se, Herren deres Gud har lagt landet foran dere; gå opp og ta det i eie, slik som Herren, deres fedres Gud, har talt til dere. Vær ikke redde eller motløse.'
22 "Da kom dere alle til meg og sa: 'La oss sende menn foran oss for å utforske landet og bringe tilbake en rapport om veien vi skal ta og byene vi vil komme til.'
